Data Engineer | Freelance-to-Hire or FTE

We are seeking a hands-on Data Engineer who can do more than just maintain existing systems -- someone who can shape architecture, optimize pipelines, and scale solutions effectively. ? Role Overview You will act as the bridge between raw data and business insights, responsible for: Collecting, structuring, and managing data across pipelines and databases Designing and implementing a scalable, future-proof data architecture Developing and maintaining dashboards for Business Intelligence Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure data flows support real decision-making This role is not fully pre-packaged -- you'll work with a foundation that needs to be expanded, made robust, and scaled for long-term use. ? Environment Current setup: Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, etc.) BI layer in early stages -- your input will shape its future Strong leadership support to invest in a professionalized data function ? Candidate Profile Proven experience as a Data Engineer in a cloud environment (Azure preferred) Skilled in data pipelines, databases, and BI tools Comfortable contributing to architecture design, not just execution Hands-on mentality with a focus on scalability and best practices Able to work onsite 4 days a week in Kortrijk Fluent in Dutch ?
