Beste freelancer,
Mijn opdracht is als volgt (let op dit betreffen geen volledige boeken, maar slechts een klein gedeelte per boek/artikel. Dit ivm de workload, geschat op 4-5 uur):
Drawing upon - and clearly referencing - Edward Bailey, "Implicit Religion," in
The Oxford Handbook of the Sociology of Religion, ed. Peter B. Clarke
(Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2009), 801-815, answer the following
questions clearly and succinctly:
(i) What precisely does the term 'implicit religion' designate?
(ii) Why is the notion problematic?
(iii) In what way is it useful?
(iv) What is the relationship between 'implicit religion' and
'spirituality'?
Drawing upon - and clearly referencing - Linda Woodhead, "Liberal Religion and
Illiberal Secularism," in G. D'Costa et al. (ed.), Religion in a Liberal State (Cambridge:
Cambridge University Press, 2013) 93-116, respond to the following questions:
(i) What, according to the author, are the main characteristics of 'liberalism'?
(ii) What, according to the author, are the main characteristics of (a)
'secularism' and (b) 'secular liberalism'?
(iii) What, according to the author, are the main characteristics of 'religion'?
(iv) How does the author conceive of the relationship between 'religion' and
'liberalism'?
(v) How does the author conceive of the relationship between 'religion' and
'secularism'?
7. Drawing upon - and clearly referencing - Jocelyne Cesari, "The Principle of the
Secular: Self-Secularism and Religion Revisited," in The Awakening of Muslim
Democracy: Religion, Modernity, and the State (Cambridge: Cambridge University
Press, 2014) 110-120, explain clearly and succinctly the following claims developed
by the author:
(i) that "modern religion in Muslim countries is positioned on the platform of
the state;"
(ii) that this 'positioning' has consequences for (a) the understanding of the
'public order', (b) and 'public morality';
(iii) that this positioning is manifest in (a) attitudes towards women ("the
politicization of the female body") and (b) evidenced in the recent history of
Islam in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Europe.
8. Drawing upon - and clearly referencing - Jocelyne Cesari, "The Principle of the
Secular: Self-Secularism and Religion Revisited," in The Awakening of Muslim
Democracy: Religion, Modernity, and the State (Cambridge: Cambridge University
Press, 2014) 110-120, explain clearly and succinctly the following points developed
by the author:
(i) the author's presentation of the three dimensions of religion and how
these are now manifest in modern Islamic nation-states;
(ii) the author's understanding of 'secularity' and its relationship to
secularization; and
(iii) how this secularity is manifest in Europe, the USA, and Muslim
countries.
Drawing upon - and clearly referencing - Karel Dobbelaere, "The Meaning and
Scope of Secularization," in in The Oxford Handbook of the Sociology of
Religion (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2009) 599-615, discuss clearly and
systematically, i.e., by structuring your answer in line with the themes identified and
discussed by Dobbelaere, the main features of his understanding of secularization.
