Security & BISO Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Security/BISO Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on IT information security and risk management within a major organization in Brussels. This is a hybrid freelance opportunity with occasional on-site presence required. Location: Brussels, Belgium Work Model: Hybrid Languages: English (fluent), Dutch or French is a plus Contract Type: Freelance or employee Role Overview: As a Security/BISO Engineer, you will support the Business Information Security Office (BISO) in implementing IT security standards and risk management processes. You'll monitor, execute, and report on security controls, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Manage recurring security tasks, including control plan execution, patch management, and exception handling Maintain dashboards and reports on security configurations and internal quality controls Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure proper risk awareness and adherence to security procedures Continuously improve processes, automation, and security monitoring Support transversal security initiatives and IT governance What We're Looking For: At least 3 years of experience in security, IT, or BISO-related roles Strong interest in the BISO domain with clear understanding of its objectives Inquisitive, proactive, and able to work independently under pressure Effective communicator, capable of simplifying complex concepts for stakeholders Experience with infrastructure, systems, processes, networks, and IT security tools Knowledge of risk management, incident management, BI tools, VBA, Power Apps, or Visio is a plus Team-oriented mindset, open to learning and sharing knowledge English fluency required; Dutch/French beneficial Perks & Benefits: Fully remote role with occasional client site visits Work within a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative environment Opportunity to influence and improve IT security practices across the organization
