Build robust Stock Blendability optimisation tool
The existing tool (attached) uses a combination of Excel VBA (approx. 1000 lines) and an open source extension to the Solver add-in for Excel called OpenSolver. The key data inputs are extracts from the Quintiq Production Planning tool which are provided in tables copied via clipboard (closing stocks per batch at end of each week, batch assays). The Stock Blendability tool runs a series of linear optimisations on the closing raw material stocks of each week against a set of given process constraints, to determine the proportion of the closing stock which is considered "blendable", i.e. fitting within the process constraints defined - this output is then written to a number of summary tables.
Currently, the tool can be used for a static set of constraints with the weekly outputs of the European Quintiq planning. The scope of this enhancement would cover the following topics, in order of importance:
1) Allow for a different set of constraints to be defined per weekly period, to reflect the impact of process improvements on blendability
2) Allow for a more flexible input e.g. on the constraints (being able to change the included elements) to allow the tool to be used with Quintiq planning from other sites such as Hobart or Port Pirie
3) General cleanup of the model to reflect the current use cases and to improve the user-friendliness and performance (e.g. clearly distinguish inputs vs outputs)
We are expecting the job to be around 20-30 days of work including the period to get you familiar with the processes. This can be streched over a period of 12 weeks.
